Chiu Last Name 丘 and 邱 (With Ear or Not), Confucius, and Taiwanese 'Q' sensation! （Only in Taiwan!)

Pronounce and belong to the same historical clan (hau Cantonese, qiu Mandarin, chiu Taiwanese, thu Vietnamese)-
NOTE difference in writing - one with a right radical 'ear' 阝, forcefully placed upon by Qing Yongzheng 雍正 Emperor.
WHEN and WHY is a fascinating history to tell. And apparently it's all because of Confucius 孔丘!

In a recent dialogue with Brian Hioe 丘琦欣 of the New Bloom - I asked him two questions, he had answer for neither but was interested and curious enough to respond in some excitement.
Brian, by the way, not only spells (Hioe) but also writes his last name uncommonly, at least unfamiliar to general Taiwanese folks.
In fact, he is the only person I know of uses his last name in this fashion - Chiu 丘 (without the ear ), aka Confucius name 孔丘!
QUESTIONS:
Do you know why yours (Chiu) is 丘 , and not the commonly 邱 in Taiwan?
(Ah, interesting! I actually don't know, I wonder that myself.)
Do you happen to be 丘逢甲 Chiu Feng-chia descendant or related?
(Aha, I actually don't know! He's definitely the most famous person with that last name in Taiwan though.)
I added, based on Brian's Chiu is spelt (and pronounced) 'Hioe', after sending him relevant information -
From my understanding, if your ancestors were Cantonese, the possibility your being 丘逢甲 Chiu Feng-chia descendant (or related) is highly raised.
SO THE STORY GOES:
From a friend Tsai (acquaintance of Chiu FC Taiwan descendants) post, I spotted CURIOUS inconsistency in Chiu's signature -
Sometimes 丘 and sometimes 邱。
Tsai then took the matter up directly with Chiu descendant who responded imminently, with some fascinating details!
Apparently it's because of Confucius 孔丘 (!) and which last name could identify an ancestral origin!
Here are the original dialogues - followed by English translation.

Chiu FC signed his name 邱 逢甲 here. But to my knowledge and under education in Taiwan, he is known 丘 逢甲。 Is there a reason (for this inconsistency)?

The original 丘 clan name was forbidden in Yongzheng Emperor Year 3, deemed disrespect to Confucius whose name is 丘.
丘 therefore became 邱 (adding a right radical ear 阝) to make it acceptable for general public to use.

In 1914, Chiu FC in Canton successfully advocated restoration of his original name 丘.
(Chiu was involved in Xinhai revolution and was Guangdong Representative for the Republic of China Provisional Presidential Election in 1911. He later became a member of the government of Sun Yat-sen.)
BUT, Taiwan being under Japanese rules, 丘 was never restored。
Chinese 丘 followed the Chinese Nationalist Party to Taiwan and Chiu FC's advocacy of restoring his name was taken effect.
(Which explains the inconsistency I spotted - depending on WHEN and WHERE Chiu FC made his signature!)

Therefore - 丘 in Taiwan identify a Chinese Nationalist origin. (Little opportunities it could have restored in Taiwan without Chinese migrants after 1945)
*One other interesting fact is Laozi 's 老子 name is 'ear' 耳/ 阝!
So 邱 in Emperor Yongzheng's enforcement actually is name of Confucius and Laozi combined!*
